WeClean has completed the third additional installation at the stations of Seoul Subway Lines 1 to 8 operated by Seoul Metro.
As in the past, the escalators installed with WeClean are both glass type and stainless type, and the width varies from 800 mm to 1200mm.
The installed WeClean model is S200L-G (Self-powered hybrid premium type).
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, surface disinfection of multi-use facilities has been periodically mandatory.
It is said that the subway stations of Seoul Metro, which are used by an average of 7,469,180 people per day (as of 2019), are disinfecting and cleaning the escalator handrails 4 to 10 times a day since COVID-19.
It is not uncommon to see officials manually cleaning and disinfecting escalator handles using disinfectant and hand rags.
The important point here is the vacuum of manual disinfection via manpower, that is, the continuity of maintaining the disinfection state.
In a situation where an unspecified number of citizens are repeatedly boarding, one person on each escalator cannot stand still at the edge of the ramp to continue disinfecting.
Not only does WeClean automatically perform the same human spraying and wiping of the disinfectant, but the disinfectant spray cycle can be set from 1 to 60 minutes, so the handle can be kept sterile throughout the operating time.
